Armed with a new Toshiba Laptop (prettiest darn laptop I've ever seen), I am gearing up with the new television schedule for the Fall 2009 - Winter 2010 season. Obviously, with the economy still in the dumps, we lost a lot of good shows. At least, some were given some closure with an ending, others simply fell into the void of cancellation. I am still pissed over the dumping of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. On the bright-side, we do have some impressive new entries in the scifi, fantasy and horror genres for television: ABC has a jump-start with the new scifi series, Defying Gravity (which is, to my surprise, REALLY FRAKKIN' GOOD), will brew up witches of Eastwick, a mysterious mass event in Flash Forward, and a re-imagining of aliens visiting, or invading, our planet Earth with V. CBS inherits NBC's Medium, while NBC gives us a new apocalyptic tale with Day One, and the currently running early Camelot tale, Merlin. CW rides the teen vampire coat-tails of the Twilight rage with Vampire Diaries, while FOX kinda lames out with Human Target and Past Life. If FOX is smart, it'll pick up Virtuality for a real series. And, I have heard no more about the werewolves-in-the-city rumor, which FOX would also be smart to put together. Both ION and STARZ enter the tv series arena with the creepy neighbor in Durham County, and probably the most impressive new show of the season, Sparticus: Blood and Sand. HBO will give us back some traditional fantasy with the adaptation of George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones, sometime in 2010. BBC America is already bangin' with the new series Being Human, and has one more new series coming soon called Survivors, another apocalyptic tale of woe. And finally, re-titled-for-no-sane-reason network, SyFy Channel, has introduced us to Warehouse 13, has upcoming series spin-offs to the Stargate and BattleStar franchises: Stargate Universe and Caprica. It's hard to pick winners and losers here, as I am still tracking down promos and trailers for em all. Sparticus: Blood and Sand looks absolutely incredible, imagine HBO's Rome mixed with the film 300 effects. AND it has Xena: Warrior Princess Lucy Lawless gettin' naked! (my apologies to everyone who stumbles upon this page from the search engines, expecting to see the nude video clips or pics from it). Excluded from this list is the ever-expanding ghost and myth hunting landscape, as well as, various new animated series ... I either don't have the time to watch em, or they just aren't my cup of tea. One of these days, I hope to hire some writers here to cover these and other areas I can't quite write about myself (geez, what was the last book I read???). Anyways, here are the new and returning shows' premiere dates (I will update this page, as I get more official premiere schedules): ABC
CBS
NBC
The CW
FOX
Lifetime
ION
ABC Family
BBC America
SyFy Channel
HBO
