The madcap residents of Eureka return for a 4th season on SyFy Channel. Lot's of changes since season 3, as Sheriff Jack Carter is left alone with the wacky scientists, while his daughter Zoey has left to attend Harvard, and girlfriend Tess has taken a job down under. Allison has a new baby to raise on her own, along with her older autistic son. Zane seeks to surprise Jo with a marriage proposal, while the rest of the town gears up for the historic Founders Day. You see, 60 years ago Eureka was created by the finest scientific minds to establish an out-of-the-way home for geniuses of all sorts to live and work. So, the residents have a HUGE party to celebrate it's early roots.

But, truth remains stranger than fiction in Eureka, as Jack finds himself blasted back in time to the early days before Eureka was a town, but rather a military camp. He's not alone, though, as Allison is also sent back in time, playing nurse (resisting the urge to add something naughty here). They also discover that Jo, Fargo and Henry have also been mysteriously sent to the year 1947. Together they meet a former assistant to Albert Einstein, Dr. Trevor Grant, who runs the formation of what would eventually become the town of Eureka. He helps the time travellers get back to 2010, but at what cost? You'll just have to find all that out, along with me, on the next episode of Eureka.

There have been a horde of former regular and guest appearances over the course of this series. However, since I am 4 years late in writing an article about the scifi series, I'll just highlight the current cast regulars:

  • Sheriff Jack Carter, former US Marshall now trying to protect the town's geniuses from their own creations - Colin Ferguson (Fear Itself, The House Next Door, The New Outer Limits, Dead Last, The Hunger tv series, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and the upcoming Lake Placid 3)
  • Zoe Carter, Jack's rebel daughter that kinda got him stuck in this wacky town - Jordan Hinson (The Glass House 2: The  Good Mother)
  • Deputy Jo Lupo, Jack's sidekick - Erica Cerra (Percy jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Sanctuary, Warehouse 13, Reaper, Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, The 4400, Young Blades, Blade: Trinity, Stephen King's Dead Zone tv series, The Collector tv series, Adam & Evil, Jake 2.0, Dead Like Me, Special Unit 2)
  • Zane Donovan, local rebel-with-a-cause genius and Jo's love interest - Niall Matter (Warehouse 13, Watchmen, Fear Itself, Beyond Loch Ness, Stargate: Atlantis)
  • Dr. Allison Blake, former government liaison now Director of Global Dynamics - Salli Richardson-Whitfield (I Am Legend, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, Secret Agent Man tv series, Stargate SG-1, I Spy Returns, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Space Rangers)
  • Dr. Henry Deacon, genius and town mechanic - Joe Morton ( Warehouse 13, The Night Listener, Stealth, Smallville, Touched by an Angel, Dragonfly, The X-Files, What Lies Beneath, Y2K, The Astronaut's Wife, Apt Pupil, In the Shadow of Evil, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Challenger, Stranded, The Brother from Another Planet, The Killing Hour, Mission Impossible tv series)
  • Dr. Douglas Fargo, the wannabe genius and creator of Jack's Artificial Intelligent Bunker/Home S.A.R.A.H - Neil Grayston (Supernatural, Stephen King's Dead Zone tv series, Legend of Earthsea, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Smallville, Jeremiah, 2002 tv version of The Time Tunnel, Da Vinci's Inquest, and look for him to appear in the upcoming crossover episode on Warehouse 13)
  • Vincent, the owner of the local dive, Cafe Diem - Chris Gauthier (The infamous Toyman on Smallville, Sanctuary, Harper's Island, Watchmen, Space Buddies, Supernatural, Stargate: The Ark of Truth, Reaper, 2007 version of The Bionic Woman, The Butterfly Effect 2, Masters of Horror, Stargate: Atlantis, Zixx: Level Two tv series, Legend of Earthsea, Stephen King's Riding the Bullet, Dead Like Me, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Da Vinci's Inquest, Freddy vs. Jason, Dark Angel, and the upcoming films: The Traveler, Iron Golem and Beyond the Black Rainbow)
  • Dr. Jim Taggart, the local animal wrangler - Matt Frewer (Max Headroom ... need I say more?, Pestilence on Supernatural, Alice, Watchmen, Weirdsville, Stephen King's Desperation, Masters of Horror, Stephen King's Riding the Bullet, BBC version of The Eleventh Hour, 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead, Steven Spielberg Presents Taken, as Sherlock Holmes in: The Case of the Whitechapel Vampire, The Sign of Four, The Royal Scandal and The Hound of the Baskervilles; Da Vinci's Inquest, PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal, Dead Fire, Apollo 11, Generation X, Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace, Stephen King's The Stand, Eerie, Indiana, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, 1986 tv series Robin Hood, Supergirl, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life)
  • Lexi Carter, Jack's sister - Ever Carradine, yes Robert's daughter (Supernatural, 3rd Rock from the Sun)
  • Dr. Tess Fontana, Jack's latest love interest - Jaime Ray Newman (Eastwick, Heroes: Villains, Medium, Stargate: Atlantis, Supernatural, and look for her in the upcoming film, The Gauntlet)
  • Dr. Trevor Grant, 1940's genius sent forward in time??? - James Callis (Battlestar Galactica's own Dr. Gaius Baltar, FlashForward, Merlin and the Book of Beasts, Helen of Troy, Relic Hunter, 2000 tv versions of Jason and the Argonauts and Arabian Nights, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and next year's The Scholarship)

Eureka isn't among my favorite tv shows, as the "bumbling science-project-gone-awry of the week" can get old. But, dang it if the series and it's characters don't grow on ya. And from the premiere of Eureka's 4th Season, I am once again drawn into the bizarre town of Eureka ... hey, kinda like Jack, eh?

Eureka now airs on Fridays, along with the odd new town of Haven, on SyFy Channel. For more on the series, check out:
